*ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 42 TWO BARREL SET. Cal. 410. SN 67360. Fine made-up set with two 26” vent rib bbls choked CYL & FULL. Both bbls have flat ventilated ribs with rnd posts & donuts and dbl ivory beads with middle bead broken on full choke bbl. Mounted with very highly figured, shell grain, American Claro walnut with sgl diamond checkered forearms and capped pistol grip stock, 14-1/2” over a Winchester solid red pad. Receiver is after-market engraved with vignette of a flying quail on left side and a pigeon standing on a limb on right side, surrounded by large foliate arabesque patterns. Bottom of receiver, in front of loading port, is stamped “BARNARD”, probably the engraver. Trigger bow is engraved “DS” and grip cap is engraved “42”. Serial number on cyl choke bbl is from a different set of stamps. Accompanied by an orig wooden dowel plug with a buff colored paper tape with red Winchester lettering for the Model 42. Also accompanied by an aluminum Americase with blue velvet lining machine embroidered in lid “WINCHESTER / 42”. CONDITION: Fine, as noted. Retains virtually all of its fine custom finish to both metal & wood with only minor storage & handling marks. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. Case & plug are fine. 4-30269 JR67 (2,500-4,000)
