LINDNER CHARLES DALY DIAMOND GRADE BOXLOCK EJECTOR HEAVY GAME GUN. SN 1279. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 30″ Dovetailed steel barrels with matted concave game rib, with square crossbolt extension, are engraved “Charles Daly Diamond Quality” in unmatted rectangle on rib. Breech ends of both bbls are engraved “Excelsior Whitten Steel” in logos. Bbl flats have SN, and German imperial proofs at 13/1. Bottoms of bbls have Lindner logo of crossed pistols surmounted by initials “HAL”. They are also stamped “Excelsior Whitten”. Right bbl has no. “1515”. Nicely filed and scalloped back case hardened action is stamped with SN, proofs, and “Prussia” on water table, and features automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), pin cocking indicators, square crossbolt, side clips, and intercepting sears. Action is engraved with nearly full coverage of meticulously executed shaded open scroll with geometric borders. Floorplate and trigger guard have matching scroll surrounding vignettes of game. Floorplate depicts black grouse on hilltop, and there are a pair of birds on trigger guard bow. SN is on tang. Nicely marbled and slightly figured European walnut semi-pistol grip buttstock measures 14″ over original serrated horn buttplate, and features checkered side panels, drop points, 22 LPI checkering with line border, vacant silver oval, and shaped horn inlay at termination of pistol grip. Matching splinter forend has horn tip and Deeley release. Bore diameter: left -.720, right -.720. Bore restrictions: left -.030, right -.028. Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.034. Drop at heel: 2-7/16″, drop at comb: 1-5/16″. Weight: 7 lbs. 15 oz, LOP 14″. CONDITION: Very fine, as refurbished. Bbls retain 95% of an old lustrous re-black, with engraving very slightly washed. Action retains 70-80% case color, silvered on fences, high edges, and floorplate. Stock has nearly all of an old rubbed red oil finish. Checkering has been re-cut. Stock has been broken through the wrist and repaired. (Repair feels solid.) Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are excellent. 4-40067 MGM13 (4,500-6,500)
