*MARTIALLY MARKED WINCHESTER MODEL 12 RIOT GUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 1012664. Blue finish with 20-1/2” plain bbl without Winchester markings. Marked on right side “12 GA. – 2 3/4 CHAM. – FULL”. There is a large “P” proof on top of bbl, probably a military proof. Receiver has large “U.S.” and flaming bomb on right side. While built as a takedown model, it was made into a non-takedown with the addition of fixed magazine tube. This was probably from the military, who most likely purchased it as an aerial gunnery training shotgun. Mounted with nicely figured American walnut with rnd, ribbed forearm and pistol grip stock with a Pachmayr White Line pad. Left side of butt has “G. H. D.” cartouche and small ordnance wheel. Buttstock also has a factory sling swivel with addition of a sling stud in place of rear screw. There is also a non-factory stud in the magazine band. Receiver has 6 plugged holes in top left side, probably from an old scope mount. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains most of its orig factory blue to the metal. Wood is sound with a few dents and dings, with forearm retaining 60-70% varnish and buttstock about 95%. Mechanics are fine. Strong, bright bore. 4-30405 JR23 (800-1,200)
