FOUR MINIATURE PORTRAITS, PAIR OF CARVED PUTTI ON PEDESTALS, AND LACQUERED BOX. Mid-to-late 19th century. The lot comprising an ink portrait of J.O. Robinson, a lacquered box with lid depicting a reclining nude with landscape in background, a watercolor portrait of a young boy in sailor suit, a pair of (Grand Tour) carved ivory putti on pedestals, an oval miniature portrait of a young woman, and a gouache of a gentleman in black waistcoat mounted in a period frame. SIZE: Largest portrait: 6-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ overall. Each putti: 5″ h. Box: 4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine Beacon Hill and Thomaston estate. CONDITION: All in very good original condition. Lacquered box with some craquelure. One putto missing object in left hand, both putti with damaged feet. 9-93614 (600-800)
