*RARE PHILADELPHIA ARMS A GRADE FOX SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 1347. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ Krupp Fluid Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl brass sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, MOD / FULL chokes, dbl triggers & extactors. Top rib of bbl is marked “PHILADELPHIA ARMS CO. MAKERS, PHILA. PA – KRUPP FLUID STEEL”. The Parker-like receiver with sculpted hinge pin is modestly engraved with “FOX” on each side & zig zag border pattern. Mounted with a replacement straight grain walnut stock with checkered pistol grip & hard rubber grip cap and a Fajen-marked, serrated, hard rubber butt plate, with orig checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.723, right -.726. Bore restrictions: left -.036, right -.020. Wall thickness: left -.036, right -.036. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 12 oz. LOP 14″. Philadelphia Arms guns are very rare, as they were only manufacturing for a little over a year, and eventually became the A. H. Fox Gun Co. More details can be found in Michael McIntosh’s book A. H. Fox, the Finest Gun in the World. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 85% orig blue with wear at muzzle & chamber areas, with usual light nicks & dings and some very shallow light scattered oxidation marks. Receiver retains 10-15% orig case colors in protected areas blended with a silver gray patina. Trigger bow has traces of orig blue with wear on edges and worn to silver through grip area. Fine replacement stock is solid with just a few minor nicks & dings and a small sliver missing on right of top tang. Checkering is fine and finish appears to be orig to this stock. Forend is hand-worn with numerous nicks & dings and modest re-cut checkering. Mechanics are good with non-automatic safety. Shiny bores. 4-35258 BDT13 (800-1,000)
