*EARLY A. H. FOX BE GRADE SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 18021. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ Krupp Fluid Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with white center and brass & ivory front sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked FULL / FULL, with dbl triggers & ejectors. This early B-engraved receiver has “Ansley H. Fox” on each side, double wavy-line border, a feeding quail on left side, a feeding woodcock on right and some modest scattered open scrolls. Bbls are marked at chamber area on right “Krupp Fluid Steel Made By and on left A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA.”. LOP 14-3/8″. Mounted with nicely figured straight grain walnut with checkered side panels, checkered rounded pistol grip, serrated hard rubber butt plate and checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.727, right -.726. Bore restrictions: left -.037, right -.036. Wall thickness: left -.031, right -.033. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain most of a very professional, factory quality, restored finish. There are a few very minor nicks & scratches. Lower rib has 2 fill holes, presumably from a removed sling swivel. Receiver engraving is crisp and retains a silver gray patina that is much darker in protected areas; there are 2 minor parallel scratches across bottom of receiver. Trigger guard has traces of blue but is mostly silver gray. Stock has a fine hand-rubbed finish with numerous light hunting marks and a few minor nicks & scratches. There is a professionally filled hole in toeline, 3-1/2″ from butt, presumably from a previously present sling swivel. Checkering is clean with flat points. Gun is tight, mechanics are crisp with strong ejectors. Bores are shiny with some very minor pitting. 4-35260 BDT3 (1,200-1,800)
