*VERY FINE GOLD INLAID FRITZ KIESS & CO. “KERSTEN ELEKTRO” OVER-UNDER SINGLE TRIGGER PIGEON GUN. SN 5201. Cal. 20 Ga. 3″ Chambers. 30″ Demi-Bloc barrels with flat matted solid rib which transitions to concave toward action, are inlaid in gold “Kersten Elektro” in milled out section of matting on rib. Right side of top bbl is stamped with “Roechlings”, (Hammer logo), and “Elektrostahl”. Left side of bbl is engraved in very small letters “Made in Germany”. Bbls are stamped with German nitro proofs for 20 Ga. No date stamp is evident. Bottom of bottom bbl is engraved “Fritz Kiess & Co. Waffenfabrik Suhl”. Coin finished, scallop backed, bolstered action features high fences, double Kersten bolt, no safety, gold pin cocking indicators, and single selective trigger with “O” and “U” inlaid in gold on trigger plate. Action has nearly full coverage of very finely executed open scroll oak leaf acanthus with acorn highlights and matted background. This frames two hunting scenes featuring gold inlaid dogs and game birds; left side of action has relief gold inlaid setter with pointer in background, with grouse flushing from woodlands; right side depicts setter flushing pheasants with pointer honoring point. Blued steel trigger guard has gold inlaid duck flushing from marsh. Nicely marbled and slightly figured European walnut full pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over black solid pad with leather facing. Stock features checkered side panels, relief carved fleur-de-lis drop points, sunburst horn grip cap, and 24 LPI checkering with scalloped borders. One piece matching forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: top -.636, bottom -.637. Bore restrictions: top -.032, bottom -.019. Wall thickness: top -.029, bottom -.029. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-13/16″. Weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz, LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain 95% of what appears to be original blue. Action retains virtually all its coin finish, with some darkening on top tang. Trigger guard and top lever retain nearly all of what may be their original blue, but is most probably a re-blue. Engraving remains sharp. Stocks retain most of an old oil finish, with numerous minor marks and nicks. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors in time. Trigger works.
