TWO PAIR OF CARVED ALABASTER URNS. First quarter 20th century. The first pair, each with ruffled rim continuing to a slim cylindrical neck above an egg-form body with applied scrolling handles, the vase carved with a mythological female face framed by grapevines, joined to a stepped plinth. The second pair of classical urn form, each carved overall with leaftips and scrolling floral vinery, both now mounted as lamps. SIZE: FIRST PAIR: each 24-3/4″ h. SECOND PAIR: As vases, each 18″ h. As lamps, each 34″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine Beacon Hill and Thomaston estate. CONDITION: The first pair with extensive damage and restoration to both vases, one handle on one vase replaced. The second pair with minor damages and losses to leaftips, otherwise very good. 9-93578 (800-1,200)
