*SMITH & WESSON 3RD MODEL 44 HAND EJECTOR DA REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Spcl. SN S68780. Transition model 1926, pre-war/post-war with 5” bbl, integral half moon front sight, groove rear sight, standard trigger & hammer with diamond checkered medallion magna grips. Accompanied by an original blue & gold 2-pc box. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson factory letter identifying this revolver and indicating that it was shipped on Aug. 5, 1946 to J.R. Galef Co., New York City, NY in a shipment of 100 identical revolvers. CONDITION: Extremely fine. All matching including the grips. As new, appears to be unfired, retaining virtually all of a fine satin blue finish. This may be an old refinish or was an early post-war original finish that was not polished bright. There is no evidence that this revolver was ever fired, as there is no erosion whatsoever on the recoil shield and it only has a faint cylinder line. Grips are crisp with miniscule diamond point wear and the bore is brilliant and shiny. 4-51699 JR581 (750-1,250)
