*LOT OF FOUR WINCHESTER RIFLES & THREE BULLET PORTRAITS OWNED & SHOT BY DOT & ERNIE LIND. The following lot was formerly owned by the famous Winchester team of Dot & Ernie Lind. They were the exhibition & trick shooters for Winchester for more than thirty years beginning in the mid-1940’s. 1) Two Winchester Model 290 Semi-Auto Rifles. Cal. 22 LR. SN 422398 & 439961. Standard tube feed rifles with 20” rnd bbls, full magazines & straight grain, pressed checkered wood. Bottom of forearms are marked “1” and “3” in magic marker. Accompanied by two notarized letters dated 3-22-92 on Ernie Lind letterhead stationery and signed Mrs. Ernie Lind, authenticating these rifles and giving a brief history on the Linds’ history with Winchester. CONDITION: Overall both retain 93-95% orig condition. 2) Model 61 Pump Rifle. Cal. 22 WRF. SN 120285. Rare single caliber 61 with 24” rnd bbl, flat bottomed, ribbed forearm and uncheckered semi-pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. Accompanied by a letter on Ernie Lind letterhead stationery dated 7-6-93 authenticating this rifle and giving a brief history of the Linds and signed Mrs. Ernie Lind. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Overall retains 88-90% orig blue, slightly thin on bbl with edge wear on receiver. Wood is sound with about 95% orig varnish. Good mechanics, bright shiny bore. 3) Model 64 Deer Rifle. Cal. 30 WCF (30-30). SN 1392095. Standard grade rifle with 24-1/4” tapered rnd bbl, half magazine, ramp front sight with hood & std late open rear sight. It has uncheckered wood with beavertail forearm & semi-pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. Receiver is drilled & tapped for receiver sight. Accompanied by a notarized letter dated 4-18-93 on Ernie Lind letterhead stationery authenticating this rifle as having belonged to Ernie Lind and signed Mrs. Ernie Lind. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Wood has minor nicks & scratches in varnish and retains 97-98% bright orig factory blue. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4) Bullet portrait of a Minuteman on bright sheet metal in an oak frame with a notarized letter dated 9-8-93 and signed Mrs. Ernie Lind authenticating this “bullet art” as having been shot by the late Ernie Lind. CONDITION: Fine with some light rust near top. 5) Bullet portrait of an Indian with feather headdress on bright sheet metal in an oak frame and signed on lower left “To Jack & Vi from Dot & Ernie Lind, Skene Valley Sports Shop 1959”. Another notation says “Shot with a Winchester”. CONDITION: Fine. A few minor creases and light corrosion near the top center. 6) Bullet portrait of Uncle Sam on sheet metal in an oak frame. Accompanied by a notarized letter on Ernie Lind letterhead stationery dated 9-8-93 and signed by Mrs. Ernie Lind, certifying that it was shot by the late Ernie Lind. CONDITION: Good. Has a coating of light rust. 7) Cardboard poster advertising the Linds shooting. It appears to be a revision as several things are marked out. Back has an Indian Chief pencil drawing. CONDITION: A few minor stains not affecting images. This lot is accompanied by two framed photographs of Dot & Ernie Lind with firearms & targets. Also accompanied by Ernie Lind’s book, The Complete Book of Trick & Fancy Shooting. Picture & book are fine. 4-30659, JR538 (4,000-6,000)
