SMALL BRONZE CANNON. 16-3/8″ bronze bbl with cast features including the initials “G.G.” at the breech. The bbl still shows the casting marks roughly ground down each side with some pitting. Should not be fired as pitting on a cast mark indicates blow holes and flaws. There is also a flawed area on the left side at the breech. The touch hole has been drilled 5/16″ in diameter, perhaps to relieve pressure. The old oak carriage is nicely carved on both sides with swans and military stands. The wheels have four turned sections. The trunnion covers are brass but have no base. Only one of the trunnion locking lugs is present and two of the keys. There is a turn support for the rear of the bbl between the two side panels. CONDITION: Dark patina overall with some pitting and verdigris. Carriage has minor chips. 4-51542 (3,000-6,000)
