LAVISHLY CARVED LIFT TOP COFFER. The hinged top having a block form with carved edge, open interior. The front with a central panel depicting a chariot in water pulled by a horse and having a nude winged woman in chariot with Zeus? beside. The scene is framed with deep carved C-scrolls and leaf decoration. The panel flaked by two lion masks with drop bellflowers. Front lion mask feet and a dropped carved apron which is missing one side. Sides decorated with cherub masks in diamond molding. SIZE: 20-3/4” h x 41” w x 18” d. CONDITION: As noted above, some scratching to top. Otherwise very good. 9-70763 (1,000-2,000)
