*WINCHESTER MODEL 63 SEMI-AUTO RIFLE THAT BELONGED TO THE LATE ELMER KEITH. Cal. 22LR. SN 136586. Cased, standard grade rifle with 23” round bbl, standard open sights with uncheckered American walnut, semi-pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. Accompanied by a blue & felt lined, homemade wood case, compartmented in the bottom for the rifle and with spaces for several boxes of ammunition. The outside of the case is painted chocolate brown and has “(ELMER KEITH) / SALMON IDAHO / U.S.A.” in magic marker printed on the lid. Also accompanied by a signed letter from Michael P. Wheeler of Laurel, MT, dated Aug 7, 1993, wherein he states “I purchased this gun Winchester Model 63 #136586 from Grover Botkin in Billings, Mt. in the spring of 1993. Grover purchased the rifle from Elmer Keith’s son at a gun show in Kalispell, MT some years ago. The rifle is in a homemade hard case with the name ‘Elmer Keith Salmon, Id’ written on the outside of the case.” and signed Michael P. Wheeler. Laurel, MT is a small town about 10 miles west of Billings. CONDITION: Rifle is very fine. Retains about all of its original factory finish to both metal & wood, with a few chips in the varnish.
