Cal. 12 ga. 30″ bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl silver sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked MOD / FULL, dbl triggers & extractors. Chamber areas of bbl marked on right “Chromox Fluid Compressed Steel” and on left “Made by A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA. U.S.A.”. Receiver is engraved in late style A-grade with “Ansley H. Fox” engraved in a flowing ribbon on each side, surrounded by foliate scroll with a stippled background. Mounted with straight grain American walnut with checkered pistol grip with hard rubber grip cap, with LOP 14-1/2″ over red Jostam Anti-Flinch recoil pad and checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.728. Bore restrictions: left -.036, right -.020. Wall thickness: left -.033, right -.030. Drop at heel: 3-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 7 lbs. 10 oz. Accompanied by Roe S. Clark letter identifying as A-grade with 30″ bbls and choked MOD / ? , with LOP 14-1/8″, drop at heel of 3″, weight of 7 lbs. 2 oz. and shipped Mar. 1, 1921, to Logan Gregg Hardware Co., Pittsburgh. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90% of orig blue finish with wear at muzzle & chamber area, and a few minor nicks & dings. Receiver retains 40-50% orig case colors, mixed with silver patina and brown patina across bottom center of receiver. Trigger bow has turned a brown patina and silver through the grip area. Stock is solid with a fine restored finish and a minor chip repair on lower left by receiver & tang; checkering is professionally repointed and is sharp & clean. Forend likewise has a fine professional restored finish, with a minor crack repair between checkering & iron, and replaced splinters of wood on both sides in the forward area; checkering is professionally repointed and is sharp & clean.
