*RARE A. H. FOX B GRADE SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 21877. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ Krupp Fluid Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib with sgl silver sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked MOD / IMP-MOD, dbl triggers & extractors. Chamber areas have 3/4″ wedge of scroll engraving. Right bbl marked “Krupp Fluid Steel Made By” and left “A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA.”. This later style B engraved receiver is a bold foliate scroll with shaded backgrounds and ribbons with “Ansley H. Fox” on each side & 2 grouse in flight with hills in background on bottom of receiver. Mounted with a striking piece of streaked walnut with checkered side panels, checkered rounded pistol grip & serrated hard rubber butt plate. Checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.030, right -.020. Wall thickness: left -.026, right -.025. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 6 lbs. 14 oz. LOP 13-7/8″. Gun is accompanied by a vintage leg-of-mutton case. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 95% orig blue with slight muzzle wear & the expected minor light nicks & scratches. Receiver has 50-60% visible case colors with balance a gray silver patina. Trigger guard only traces of orig blue & mostly silver patina. Stock is sound with tiny chip behind top tang, only a few minor light handling marks & extremely fine hand-rubbed finish. Forend is sound with matching fine hand-rubbed finish. Mechanics are crisp with shiny bores. 4-35259 BDT22 (5,000-7,000)
