*OUTSTANDING A. H. FOX CE GRADE SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 32417. Cal. 12 ga. 30″ Chromox Fluid Steel bbls with tapered, matted, concave rib, sgl ivory sighting bead, 2-3/4″ chambers, MOD / FULL chokes, Miller sgl trigger & ejectors. Chamber areas have 1-1/2″ wedge of scroll engraving. Right bbl is marked “CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL” and left “Made By A. H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA. U.S.A.”. The C grade receiver in typical pattern foliate scroll surrounding an oval with “Ansley H. Fox” & 2 quail on left side and “Ansley H. Fox” & 2 woodcock on right. Circular scroll pattern around trigger plate screw & circle with pointing setter and hills in background on bottom of receiver. Mounted in “streaky” walnut with checkered side panels & checkered pistol grip with hard rubber grip cap & Jostam Hy-Gun recoil pad. Standard checkered splinter forend with ebony insert tip. Bore diameter: left -.730, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.044, right -.025. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 7 lbs. 5 oz. LOP 13-3/8″. Accompanied by Roe S. Clark letter identifying this gun as a CE grade 12 ga. with 30″ bbls, choked FULL / FULL, with full pistol grip, LOP 14-1/8″, drop at heel 2-3/4″, fitted with No. 3 weight bbls, weighs 7 lbs. 6 oz. Shipped to W. S. Brown, Pittsburgh, Aug. 3, 1928. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain 98% orig blue with only a couple very minor handling nicks & scratches. Receiver retains 90-95% vivid orig case colors with just a little thinning at bottom of receiver. Trigger guard retains 90-95% orig blue. Wood is solid with sharp pointy checkering, grip cap has crack running from edge to center screw. Finish has only a couple of minor light handling marks and has a smooth hand-rub luster. Forend has similar fine hand-rub luster finish with good checkering & 2 cracks running from forend iron to checkering. Mechanics are crisp, Miller trigger selector works, ejectors are strong & bores are shiny. 4-35239 BDT16 (6,000-8,000)
