*SMITH & WESSON PRE-WAR 38-44 DA REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spcl. SN 37404. Blued finish, 5” bbl, with integral half-moon front sight, groove rear sight, standard trigger with checkered hammer spur. Both hammer & trigger have patent dates. It has diamond checkered silver medallion grips. Accompanied by an original type dark blue box with gold lettering and a picture of the revolver on the lid. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped January 8, 1931 to the Waterloo, Iowa Police Dept., Attn: F.M. Shores, Chief of Police, Waterloo, Iowa. It was a single gun shipment. Mr. Jinks speculates that it was ordered for the Chief himself. CONDITION: Very fine plus. All matching including the grips. Retains 95-97% strong bright original blue, with light muzzle and minor sharp edge wear, with a light cylinder line and minor flaking on the sideplate and left rear of the frame. Grips are extremely fine with minor diamond point wear and it has crisp mechanics with bright shiny bore. Box is sound with moderate to heavy edge & corner wear, small scratches and two pieces of tape on the lid. 4-51813 JR507 (500-1,000)
