EXTREMELY RARE SAVAGE MODEL 1904 RELOADING TOOL WITH BOX AND INSTRUCTIONS. Cal. 25-35. Extremely rare Savage loading tool with blued steel body and color case hardened lever that has a turned mahogany handle with blued steel ferrule. Accompanied by its original 2-pc cardboard box with end label that has been nearly devoured by bookworms but it has a full and complete label inside the lid. Also accompanied by its original sheet of instructions which does not even list the .25-35 caliber. Few of these scarce loading tools were ever produced and very few of those survive today, usually in very poor condition. Boxes and instructions sheets are extraordinarily rare with this set being the first ever encountered by this cataloger. PROVENANCE: David D. Soble Single Shot Rifle Collection. CONDITION: Tool is extremely fine plus retaining virtually all of its original factory finish with strong bright blue that has a few small spots of surface rust on the body of the tool with some flaking on the removable die. Expander plug is missing. Handle retains virtually all of its brilliant original case colors with the wooden handle retaining about all of its original varnish and bright blue on the ferrule. Box has been completely restored leaving the interior label completely intact with only slight staining. Exterior of the box is moderately soiled. Instruction sheet is yellowed and fragile but nearly intact with some minor oil staining and a slight tear along one of the folds. 4-39522 JR179 (1,000-2,000)
