*SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1917 COMMERCIAL DA REVOLVER. Cal. 45 ACP. SN 181515. Blue finish, 5-1/2” bbl, integral front sight with diamond checkered silver medallion walnut grips and a lanyard loop in the butt. It has checkered hammer with patent date on it and the trigger. Accompanied by an original type maroon hinged lid box with a pea green end label. Also accompanies is a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver as being shipped March 7, 1932 to the Denver Police Department in a shipment of 100 units to be issued to the Denver Police. CONDITION: Very fine. All matching including the grips. Overall retains about 95% strong bright original blue with light muzzle and edge wear and a moderate cylinder line. Grips are exceptionally fine. Crisp mechanics with bright shiny bore. Box lid is detached with all four corners of the lid broken and one corner of the bottom is broken. 4-51811 JR488 (1,000-1,500)
