*VERY FINE MARTINI ACTION SCHUETZEN RIFLE BY A. KORINSKI. SN 221. Cal. 8.15 x 46 R. Very finely made fluted octagonal bbl has matted top flat with long dovetail for mounting bbl sight. Rear is engraved “Kruppscher” “Prima” “Gewehrlaufstahl”. “A Korinski” and “Erlangen” are inlaid in silver on flats flanking matted top. Finely made front sight has windage adjustment. Bottom flat of bbl under forend is stamped with SN, B U G crowned proofs, and “172/28” (weight of bullet and charge). Case hardened Martini action features double set triggers in removable floorplate, with take down lever at rear. A very finely machined rear sight, with windage and elevation screws, is mounted in front of tang. Nicely executed engraving depicts cherubs surrounded by large shaded acanthus scroll. Top of receiver ring has gold inlaid monogram “KS”. Floorplate is engraved with Greenman. Nicely marbled European walnut buttstock has typical Schuetzen hook butt, as well as a very well sculpted cheekpiece for right hand shooter. Stock is finely carved with acanthus leaves on raised portion behind action and scroll acanthus with blossom at termination of checkering on right side. Checkering is at about 18 LPI with carved and stippled borders. Matching forend fastens to bbl with side nail to rectangular German silver escutcheons. Forend tip is in nicely carved acanthus. Weight: 11 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95% original blue with numerous small marks from handling and use. Action retains 60-70% of its case color, silvering on bottom and top edges. Cherubs and highlights of acanthus of engraving have been polished, to enhance depth. This treatment is original. Stocks retain most all of their original oil finish, with numerous marks from handling and use over the years. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny. Very finely made set triggers are excellent. A very fine example of one of these original and very expensive rifles, which are gaining popularity. 4-39703 (2,500-3,500)
