SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 TRAPDOOR CARBINE. Cal. 45-70. SN 139382. Standard carbine with 22” bbl, replaced front sight, Buffington rear sight with “C”. It has a 1-pc half stock with sling bar and ring on left side and carbine buttplate with trap, containing 2 pieces of the original wiping rod. No cartouche is visible. CONDITION: Fine. Metal retains an overall dull bluish/brown with brighter blue on the trigger guard and buttplate. Stock is sound with usual nicks and dings and some light mildew, dark and oil stained. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with scattered pitting. 4-52273 JR119 (800-1,200)
