SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1868 TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. 50 CF. SN 40708. Standard rifle with 32 1/2” bbl, square base front sight and ladder rear sight. It has 1870-dated breechblock and 1864-dated lockplate. It is in a 1-pc stock with 2 bands and ramrod. CONDITION: About good. No original finish remains. Medium gray patina with fine surface pitting. Wood is sound, much worn with usual handling and use nicks and dings. Strong dark bore that may clean better. 4-52276 JR115 (500-800)
