PAIR OF COLONIAL REVIVAL CARVED MAHOGANY BOOKCASES. Early 20th century. Each rectangular top with tulip-carved cornice above a figured mahogany frieze, the astragal-glazed door headed by bow-tied bellflower, flanked by engaged, reeded columns with acanthus-carved capitals, stepped on a base fitted with a single cockbeaded drawer, flanked by oval-carved paterae, raised on acanthus-carved ball feet. SIZE: Each 55″ h. x 29″ w. x 14-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Both retain original French polish finish, with very good reddish-brown color. 9-93499 (1,000-1,500)
