*SUPERB MUFFOLINI ENGRAVED FLLI. RIZZINI R1-E GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 2083. Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 27″ Beautifully struck and polished chopper lump barrels are engraved “Flli. RIZZINI – MAGNO V.T.” on narrow swamped concave game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with 1997 Italian nitro proofs, “FLLIRIZZINI” and SN. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with chamber and choke information. Rizzini patent sidelock action features non-automatic safety (“S” inlaid in gold) and single non-selective trigger. Action, trigger guard, and top lever are beautifully engraved with meticulously executed relief shaded open scrolled acanthus with floral highlights. This work is truly exceptional. “Flli Rizzini” is on ribands under lockplates. SN is on scrolled riband on trigger guard tang. This dramatic scroll frames a very finely detailed Bulino meadow scene of hen pheasant nurturing clutch of chicks with cock looking on. Left lockplate shows a fox flushing cock pheasant out of meadow, with finely detailed darker sweep of trees in background, which downplay the impact of the action screws on this fine scene. Right lockplate is right out of WATERSHIP DOWN … a pair of adult rabbits and 3 bunnies in peaceful scene, with hilly background, and dramatic sky. All of this fine work is by S. Muffolini whose signature is on right side of trigger plate just behind action. Exceptionally fine, dramatically colored and figured burl Circassian walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/8″ over checkered wood butt, and features diamond hand, and extremely well executed 28 LPI flat top borderless checkering. Matching splinter forend has Anson release, and interior of iron is engraved “Ejectore Brev. Rizzini”, and is stamped with SN. Bore diameter: left -.622, right -.622. Bore restrictions: left -.019, right -.010. Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.034. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 5 lbs. 15 oz, LOP 14-3/8″. High quality tan leather case has stitched leather corners, and is lined in dark olive cloth, with Flli Rizzini paper label, and secondary label giving particulars of this gun. Accessories include 2-pc mahogany and brass cleaning rod, round oil bottle, pair of snap caps, cleaning brushes and mops, and the key. CONDITION: Essentially as new, with no evidence of having been fired after proof. Close inspection finds only two very slight marks in wood. Case is excellent. Flli Rizzini produce fewer than 15 guns per year.
