SCARCE REMINGTON MODEL 1889 DAMASCUS HAMMER DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. SN 89205. Cal. 12 ga. Extraordinary, near new Remington double with 28″ fine twist Damascus bbls choked FULL/IMP-CYL. It has flat tapered matted rib with doll’s head rib extension & extractor. Receiver & lockplates are undecorated except for maker’s name on each lockplate. Mounted with beautiful straight grain checkered American walnut with black insert splinter forearm & rnd knob pistol grip stock with raised side panels, 13-3/4″ over a Remington monogram hard rubber buttplate. Bore diameter: left – .727, right – .726. Bore restrictions: left – .026, right – .003. Wall thickness: left – .042, right – .038. Drop at heel: 2-7/8″, drop at comb: 2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Bbls retain virtually all of their orig blue/gray Damascus pattern with only very slight muzzle edge wear, probably unfired. Receiver, lockplates, hammer, trigger guard & forend iron retain virtually all of their orig factory case colors, brilliant over top & right side of receiver, strong & bright on right lockplate, somewhat faded on left side. Trigger guard colors are lightly faded. Wood is completely sound with a very few, very minor storage marks & retains virtually all of its strong, bright orig factory varnish.
