COLT MODEL 1878 DBL BBL DAMASCUS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 gage. SN 22684. 30” bbl. Note: This was only six guns from the end of production of this model. It has the standard markings on top of the bbl, but only “COLT” on each lockplate. There is light engraving on all parts with a pointing dog on the left lockplate, and snipe on the right. Trigger guard has a sgl flying duck. CONDITION: About 50% of the Damascus pattern remains on the bbl and rib. There are faint traces of casehardening colors on the action, although all surfaces are covered with a very light surface rust, and this will probably clean better. Wood has minor dents and scratches, but retains about half of the original varnish. Retainer spring in the forearm is missing. Otherwise the action is good. 4-57165 (1,000-1,500)
