JAPANESE KOTO WAKIZASHI. 20”shinogi zukuri blade. Narrow suguha hamon, mokume hada. Nakago is ubu but with two mekugi ana and is lightly inscribed “BISHU OSAFUNE MUNEMITSU”. 29 ½”long. overall. Mounts: Habaki with cat scratches is shakudo but a bit rubbed. Tsuba of iron with inlayed gilt cherry blossoms on a branch. Floral menuki with tan tsuka ito, kashira similar cherry blossoms on branch but clearly by a different hand than the work on the tsuba, fuchi is missing. CONDITION: Blade is very clean with some minor stains and a number of very tiny nicks along its edge. Black saya is repainted with light scratches. Kurikata is glued back in place. Tsuba has been over cleaned. 4-53742-14 GA14 (400-800)
