CASE TRACTOR COMPANY CAST IRON EAGLE TRADE SIGN. Late 19th century tripod-based trade sign of an American bald eagle perched atop a globe lettered with the word “CASE”. Display was cast in two pieces and bolted together. History has it that Mr. J. I. Case adopted the eagle mascot after a captive one he encountered named “Old Abe” who served as a mascot for Co. “C” of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. SIZE: 59″ h; 22″ dia. of globe. CONDITION: Casting is complete with heavily weathered painted surface. 1-11167 (3,000-4,000)
