*C. M. GASSER CUSTOM SAKO BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 375 H&H Mag. SN 509752. Built on an L61R Sako action with 25” tapered oct bbl that has integral ramp front sight with hood and integral quarter rib with 3-leaf custom express sight, 2 folding, 1 standing. Rib is engraved “C. M. GASSER – HUNTINGTON, NEW YORK” and date “6-77”. Receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases and is mounted with quick detachable steel rings containing a Leupold M8-4X scope with fine duplex crosshairs. Mounted in a very highly figured marble cake French walnut 1-pc stock, extensively checkered with fleur-de-lis and ribbon carving on both forestock and wrist. It has an ebony forend tip and engraved metal grip cap and is 13” over a Pachmayr solid black pad. Floorplate is engraved with silver inlaid fleur-de-lis patterns and a large oval with a very highly detailed, raised side view of a bull elephant. Previous owner commissioned Sid Bell to do the engraving. Triggerguard is inlaid with silver initials “PAC”. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains most all of its orig custom finish with a spot or two of light surface rust by front sight. Receiver retains about all of its custom blue finish with few spots of light surface rust. Bolt body and guide rail retain most of their custom jeweling. Stock is sound with a few small scratches on left side and a small crease in cheekpiece with a couple of small bruises on comb, otherwise retains virtually all of its beautiful hand-rubbed custom finish.
