HAROLD MATTHEWS BRETT (American, 1880-1955) FOREFATHERS. Unframed, large illustration shows a stern American Indian bust with the Pilgrims watching the Mayflower on horizon as background. Signed lower left “Brett 1921”. Brett studied under Howard Pyle and was an illustrator for Harper’s Weekly amongst other national magazines. He particularly liked to do New England subjects with a historical setting. SIZE: 35” x 44”. CONDITION: Strip lined, some minor inpainting. Very good. 9-99261 (2,000-3,000)
