CLARENCE E. BRALEY (American, 1854-1927) THE RETRIEVAL. Oil on canvas hunting scene shows a retriever type dog in marsh with a recently shot duck in mouth heading back to its handler. The dog is Setter type with auburn fur and white nose. The duck appears to be a hooded merganser. The dogs collar says ‘New Bedford”. Signed lower right “C. Braley”. Housed in its outstanding decorated flower design frame which is made of a flat wide oak frame having a gilt shaped inner border with scroll, leaf and flower design. SIZE: 22” x 28”.
