*PARKER 1-1/2 FRAME VHE GRADE SKEET SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 239561. Cal. 12 ga. 26″ bbls with tapered, matted concave rib, dual ivory sighting bead with center missing, 2-3/4″ chambers, SKEET IN/SKEET OUT chokes, ejectors and Parker single selective trigger. Top of rib is marked “Parker Bros.Makers.Meridan.Ct.U.S.A.Vulcan Steel”. Usual V Grade receiver with zig zag border engraving and “Parker” across bottom. Mounted with nicely figured walnut, checkered straight grip, Hawkins recoil pad, gold initial shield, checkered beavertail forend. Bore diameter: left – .728, right – .729. Bore restrictions: left – .020, right – .018. Wall thickness: left – .031, right – .030. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 7 lbs. 6 oz. LOP 14″. Accompanied with leg of mutton case embossed “C.L. Horn”. The book “Parker Gun Identification & Serialization” records 239561 as a V Grade 12 gauge 26″ bbl with ejector and single trigger and pistol grip stock. Investigation of stock reveals correct stamped SN in channel for trigger guard tang and handwritten in pencil in beavertail forend. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 95-98% blue with a few minor nicks and scratches and rub mark from forend. Receiver has 90% cyanide case colors with thinning to gray patina across bottom. Straight grip trigger guard has 90-95% blue, thinning at edges and across grip area. Stock is sound with minor chip behind top tang and hairline crack at right side of receiver, sharp checkering and a few light nicks and scratches and a light coat of added finish. Forend is sound with good checkering, a few minor handling marks and retains most of its fine coat of added finish. Mechanics are crisp with non-automatic safety, strong ejectors, nice shiny bores. Leather leg of mutton case has only a few minor scuff marks, some torn stitches on hinge, and retains all straps and handles. This is a nice late Parker Skeet gun. 4-37242 BDT170 (2,500-4,500)
