*VERNEY – CARRON BEST SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN. SN J960. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. This well made gun has 27-5/8″ chopper lump barrels with low concave matted game rib, and third bite extension, which are stamped “Verney-Carron” “Demi-bloc” with Verney-Carron circular logos, and some French proof marks on water table. Bottoms of bbls have St. Etienne proofs and SN. Full sidelock action has non-automatic safety (“S” engraved), and features third fastener, bushed strikers, and double triggers with front trigger articulated. French gray finished action and lockplates are engraved with about 60% coverage scroll engraving with rose accents. Fences are semi-relief engraved in oak leaf pattern. Either side of action is engraved “Verney-Carron”. Top tang under lever is engraved “Helicobloc”. Long tang trigger guard is also scroll engraved. Lightly marbled and figured French walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8″ over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at 22 LPI with mullered borders. Area surrounding lockplates is carved in unusual fluted pattern, and is quite pleasing. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.036, right -.013. Wall thickness: left -.021, right -.019. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs. 8 oz, LOP 14-5/8″. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain virtually all of their orig blue. Action and lockplates retain nearly all of their orig French gray which has silvered on bottom of action. Stocks retain most of their orig French polish with a few minor light marks from handling. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny, with some minor freckling mostly in right bbl. A nice handling, high quality gun. 4-39975 MGM39 (4,500-8,000)
