*SPECTACULAR FRANZ SODIA DRILLING. Cal. 20X20/22 Mag. SN 25257. Spectacular & unusual drilling with 25-5/8” bbl cluster, tapered flat, matted rib with caterpillar front sight and articulated rear sight. It has Greener cross bolt rib extension with dbl underbite & gold-plated triggers with the front being set for the rifle. Mounted with very highly figured, marblecake, French walnut with checkered & fleur-de-lis carved beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock, 14-3/4” over a smooth, old English pad. Stock has not been cut. The rib on bbl is engraved “JERRY AND BRIAN RATTNER” and the bbl flats are marked “WESTCHESTER CUSTOM GUNS / DOBBS FERRY NEW YORK” and it has 3” chambers. It is a boxlock receiver with sideplates having Merkel style reinforcements with side clips. Top tang has a thumb lever to activate rear sight and transfer front trigger to fire the rifle. Left side of wrist has a Greener thumb safety which is inoperable but probably a simple repair. Sideplates and receiver are beautifully full game scene engraved with twenty-two highly detailed gold figures & leaves. Left side depicts an early German hunter in a woodland scene with two dogs, his horse & a stag with a cross between the antlers. Right side depicts a very early Alpine hunter holding a crossbow stalking three chamois in a mountain scene. Bottom of receiver has an auerhaun on a limb. There are leaves over the top and front of receiver. Maker’s name & address is in a scroll on bottom. Triggerguard has a very deep relief gold hare running directly away from the viewer. Background & balance of receiver are all coin finished. Engraving extends 2” over shotgun chambers and has five gold leaves on each side with a very deep relief gold spaniel retrieving a pheasant on left side & two very deep relief gold flying wood ducks on right side. Bore diameter: left – .625, right – .625. Bore restrictions: left – .030, right – .020. Wall thickness: left – .028, right – .026. Drop at heel: 2-3/4”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 6 lbs. 5.76 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, may be unfired. Retains virtually all of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood.
