LOT OF 2 ITEMS FROM THE CUSTER BATTLEFIELD. This lot consists of a 50 caliber conical bullet with triangle shaped cavity, in excavated condition and is slightly deformed on the nose from striking something hard such as soil, a rock, or a bone. It is in excavated condition with crusty soil and light oxidation. The other item is a small military cuff or collar button with repoussed spread winged eagle, a wire loop on the back, and is marked “Waterbury Button Company”. It is heavily oxidized with crusty soil on the back near the pin. It is accompanied by a very old yellowed card- -weight tag which states “Picked up by GEO E MAXON, SR / VERNON, TEXAS Sep’t 1945 / on CUSTERS BATTLE GROUNDS / in CROW NATION, MONTANA.” Also accompanying is a copy of a map with handwritten notations as to where these two items were found. It appears both were found a few yards north of the Reno-Benteen defensive position. Ex. William Bond Collection. 4-53316 (1,000-2,000)
