ALBERT ERNEST CARRIER-BELLEUSE (French, 1824-1887) “LISEUSE” (THE READER). Outstanding bronze and ivory sculpture of an elegant woman dressed in fine clothes with head scarf. Her face is ivory as well as her two hands. She holds an open book and appears to be reading from it. Signed on base “A Carrier-Belleuse”. Mounted to a round molded bronze base with plaque “Liseuse par Carrier-Belleuse Grand Prix du Salon”. Bronze has a two color patina in dark and light brown. SIZE: 24” h.
