*ARRIETA MODEL 801 SIDELOCK EJECTOR SELF-OPENING GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 463.01. Cal. 20 Ga. 28″ Chopper lump barrels are roll engraved “New England Arms, Co.” and “Kittery Point – Maine – U.S.A. – Made in Spain” on tops, and are fitted with Churchill rib. Bbl flats are stamped with Spanish nitro proofs. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with choke information. Bbls are fitted with H&H type self-opening mechanism. H&H style action features automatic safety (“Safe” engraved), bushed strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, H&H type hand detachable lock pin, and double triggers (front hinged). Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage well-cut, medium, tight scroll. “Fabrica de Arrieta Y Cia Elgoibar” is engraved on bottom of action, and “Arrieta Y Cia” on scrolled riband on each lockplate. Blued trigger guard and top lever are also scroll engraved. SN is on trigger guard tang. Relief gold-inlaid Arrieta fleur-de-lis logo is in oval on bow. Exceptional, nicely marbled and figured Tessier French walnut (no longer available in today’s market) straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over checkered wood butt, and features drop points and 22 LPI standard checkering with mullered borders. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.623, right -.622. Bore restrictions: left -.012, right -.005. Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.026. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs. 2 oz, LOP 14-3/4″. Light brown canvas toe under case with brass corners and leather trim, is lined with burgundy cloth. Accessories include oil bottle, pair of snap caps, and Spanish proof certificate dated 1 March 2002. Replacement cost of this special order gun with all its features is approx. $18,000. PROVENANCE: Consignor states that this is one gun of a pair ordered for Gen. Schwarzkopf, but not delivered. CONDITION: As new. Proof fired only, with only a few extractor wipe marks on breech face.
