STANDARD SHIRTS TIN SIGN. Humorous early lithographed sign depicting several fashionably dressed Victorian ladies out for a summer stroll, stumbling upon a group of surprised skinny-dipping gents seen covering up with their Standard brand shirts. A colorful and finely detailed illustration which takes on the appearance of an oil painting. Lithographed by Wells & Hope Co., 918-20-22 Vine St., Phila., PA. Only copy of this sign known by cataloger. SIZE: Image: 29-1/2″ w x 21-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Generally in very good condition. There is a narrow horizontal band of lifting paint that extends from the parasol to the top two gents. Some crazing occurring to the right side of the image but doesn’t detract whatsoever from the image’s visual impact. Possibly some color touch-up to the white border. 1-9158 (3,000-5,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2009 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
