EMILE LOUIS PICAULT (French, 1833-1915) FLOOR TAZZA. Outstanding bronze tazza has a dish form top with center plaque “Olympias XCL Graeci Syracusis Captivi” with classical scene. Dish edge has two Backus type head profile handles. Center shaft with decorative elements and hanging chains with a lizard that has caught an insect. Bottom decorated section with reverse trumpet form on a stepped gadrooned edge base ending in four paw feet. Late 19th Century. Top plaque signed “E. Picault – Exp 1863”. SIZE: 37” x 15-1/2” dia without handles. CONDITION: Very good. 9-71356 (2,500-3,500)
