NEWBOLD HOUGH TROTTER (American, 1827-1898) FALL HUNTING. Large oil on canvas scene shows three hunting dogs, one black, one auburn and one brown and white all on point with a hunter in background. Scene is set in a cleared field surrounded by trees with low hills in background with a setting sun. Signed lower right “NH Trotter”. Housed in what may be its original gesso decorated wide gilt frame. SIZE: 24” x 36”. CONDITION: Some paint chipping to surface, relined. Otherwise good. 9-70775 (4,500-6,500)
