E. C. GREEN BOXLOCK WATER FOWLER. SN 4606. Cal. 10 Ga. 3″ Chambers. 32″ Three Stripe Damascus barrels are engraved “Edwinson C. Green, Maker. High St. Cheltenham. Winner of the 2 First Prizes Field Trials.” in unmatted portion of machine matted concave game rib with doll’s head extension. Bbl flats show 1990 Birmingham nitro re-proofs at 850 bar. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs, choke information, SN, and some other indecipherable stampings that look like makers logos. Bright finished action has proofs, SN, and “E. C. Green’s”, “Anson & Deeley’s”, and “Patent 2516” on water table. Action features non-automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), Westley Richards type top lever sliding third fastener, and rounded bar. Fences are filed with interesting beads terminating in volutes that stand off from action about 1/8″. Metal parts are engraved with very well cut shaded scroll with some rose bouquet highlights as background for scenes of dogs and birds on either side of action. There are rather naive spaniels chasing ducks on left, with setters and grouse on right. “E. C .Green” is in banners above dogs. Scroll engraved trigger guard extends to engraved steel grip cap with SN on grip. Well marbled and lightly figured European walnut full pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over 1-1/2″ Silvers type pad. Point pattern checkering is at 26 LPI with mullered borders on points. Matching splinter forend has Anson type release stamped “E. C. Green’s Patent”. Bore diameter: left -.774, right -.778. Bore restrictions: left -.038, right -.033. Wall thickness: left -.036, right -.030. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 9 lbs. 13 oz, LOP 14-1/2″. PROVENANCE: Ammo. CONDITION: Fine, as refurbished. Bbls retain virtually all of a fine chocolate color re-brown with excellent definition to pattern. Action has been polished bright. Stocks are very good quality replacements, and are excellent, with only a few minor marks from handling and use, and some spots where finish has worn through, mostly at comb, and side panels to action. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny, but with a few minor pits toward breeches as well as a few in chamber. Also included with gun are 6 boxes of 10 RST 10-Ga. ammunition, 4 boxes loaded with lead, and 2 boxes loaded with “Nice Shot”. A nicely balanced good pointing ten bore. 4-40550 MGM63 (4,000-6,000)
