*FINE PAIR OF WILLIAM POWELL BOXLOCK EJECTOR GAME GUNS WITH CASE. SN 16086/ 16087. (1988) Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 27-1/2″ Chopper lump barrels are engraved “William Powell & Son. 35. Carrs Lane, Birmingham.” on low narrow concave game ribs with “1” and “2” inlaid in gold on engraved breech end of rib, respectively. Bbl flats are stamped with SNs and Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers at .614. Case hardened scalloped back boxlock actions feature automatic safeties (“Safe” inlaid in gold) and double triggers. Actions are engraved with nicely cut shaded scroll with rose bouquet highlights. “William Powell & Son Birmingham” is in scroll framed ribands on either side of actions. Blued floorplates, top levers, and trigger guards have matching rose and scroll. SNs are on trigger guards, and “1” and “2” are inlaid in gold on top levers. Exceptionally well matched, broadly streaked and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 14-15/16″ over checkered wood butts, and feature drop points, and 22 LPI checkering with mullered borders. Gold ovals are on toe lines, and are engraved with initials “C D O’B”. Matching splinter forends have Anson releases, with “1” and “2” inlaid in gold on tips. BBLs gun no. “1”: Bore diameter: left -.613, right -.613. Bore restrictions: left -.013, right -.005. Wall thickness: left -.036, right -.039. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-5/16″. CONDITION: Excellent, with only a very few minor marks and silvering on metal, and light marks and compressions on wood. Actions are tight, and bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are excellent. Case is very fine with leather showing some scuffs, and a slight tear on back. Straps and handle are fine.
