Blue finish with 30″ No. 3 weight rnd bbl, Winchester globe front sight, no rear sight and a fine #76 windage adjustable vernier tang sight with 3″ staff. Rifle is in takedown configuration with standard step side receiver and is mounted with uncheckered American walnut with the very distinctive “high power” target forearm which is 16″ long with an integral pedestal near the receiver and on the bottom with a 1/2″ thick cork face. Forearm is secured with a single band & spring keeper. Bbl band has an integral sling loop with corresponding sling loop in buttstock. Also accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter which identifies this rifle in 30 caliber (which is 30-40 Krag), 30″ rnd #3 weight bbl with plain trigger and takedown. There is no mention of a date received at the warehouse, however it was shipped Aug. 10, 1908 to Order #162414. There is no mention of the special wood & sight. PROVENANCE: David D. Sobel Single Shot Rifle Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains about all of its strong orig factory blue with some light scratches under handguard from the spring clips. Takedown ring also retains most of its orig factory blue with some light flaking on right side. Receiver retains about 90% strong orig blue with light flaking which has turned to medium patina. Lever, hammer & breech block retain strong case colors, bright on breech block, faded on outer face of lever. Wood is sound with minor handling & storage nicks & scratches and retains virtually all of its orig factory varnish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-39518 JR110 (15,000-25,000)
