*WINCHESTER 52 A HEAVY BARREL TARGET RIFLE. SN 42265A. Cal. 22 LR, 28″ rnd bbl (.885 at muzzle), front dovetail filled with target base, no provision for rear sight, mounted with scope blocks and topped with “J Unetrl” 10X target scope with AO. Left side of bbl near receiver is marked “WINCHESTER/PROOF STEEL-MODEL 52-WINCHESTER/TRADEMARK-.22 LONG R.” Right side “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN, CONN.” “A” model receiver as marked by “A” suffix in SN with “WINCHESTER/TRADEMARK” on forward right side, and a series of patent numbers on rear right side. Rear bridge had a rectangular flat base stamped model 52 believed to be for a Marble Goss receiver sight. Mounted with straight grain walnut, sgl bbl band with swivel, forend mounted with hand stop, small notch on left side for adjustment of orig receiver sight, straight comb, checkered steel buttplate, and inlet sling swivel. Comb of gun has approximately 1/4″ hole about 2-1/2″ back from comb. Trigger has wide trigger shoe and gun comes with one five shot marked magazine with “PAT.NOV.25,1919” markings. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 97-98% orig blue with some minor muzzle wear and some typical light nicks & scratches. Receiver retains 98% orig blue with a few minor marks. Bolt handle has had most of the blue worn to a silver patina. Trigger guard and floor plate retain orig blue with some minor scratching and some areas flaked and blending with brown patina. Stock is sound, there are two minor grain cracks behind base for hand stop, typical nicks & dings, retain much of its orig finish and blending with hand worn patina in forend area. Scope has fine cross-hair and target dot that appear solid, but scope is somewhat fuzzy. Mechanics are good with a nice bore. 4-40085 BDT22 (1,250-1,750)
