*L.C. SMITH UPGRADE TO GRADE 5 DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 345857. Most likely, originally a field grade gun, with 30” Armor Steel bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered, concave, matted rib, dbl beads, crossbolt rib extension, extractor & dbl triggers. Mounted with very nicely figured, checkered, American walnut with push-button splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock, 14-1/8” over a dog’s head buttplate. Receiver, lockplates & appended metal are very nicely engraved with deep relief vignette of two quail on left side and two dogs on right side, all surrounded by nicely executed foliate arabesque patterns. Bore diameter: left – .729, right – .728. Bore restrictions: left – .034, right – .021. Wall thickness: left – .032, right – .025. Drop at heel: 2-3/4”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 7 lbs. 9.92 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Overall retains virtually all of a beautiful custom finish with strong rust blue on bbls and brilliant case colors on receiver & lockplates. Wood has a minor scratch or two, otherwise retains all of its finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. 4-30189 JR167 (2,000-3,000)
