INDIAN USED MODIFIED SHARPS BORCHARDT RIFLE. Cal 45-70. SN 16939. Modified musket with 28” rnd bbl, cut forearm with single bbl band missing sling swivels and rear sight with Beech’s front sight. The tang is mounted with a sight base, missing blade. The wrist is wrapped with hide, secured with tacks, and a row of tacks around the butt at the buttplate and three tacks on each side of the forearm. The left side of the forearm is crudely scratched with the initials “JH”. The top left of the receiver is marked in small letters “J.P.LOWER/DENVERCOL”. The bbl is marked with the company’s Bridgeport address and “OLD RELIABLE”. CONDITION: About good. Traces of original finish remain in very sheltered areas. The forearm is severely modified and there are several deep gouges and cuts. The stock has cracks in the wrist and shows heavy wear and use. The receiver is battered and worn.
