*C. HUNT & CO. SIDELOCK EJECTOR PIGEON GUN WITH CASE. SN 5172. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 27-1/2″ Dovetailed barrels with raised flat file cut rib, are engraved “The Championship Gun” and “C. Hunt & Co. Ltd. Birmingham & London.” on tops. There is a large square shouldered doll’s head rib extension cut for square crossbolt and extra side bolt, the top of which is engraved “Varriales Patent”. There are four 1-1/4″ triangles of scroll at breeches. Bbl flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 1-1/4 oz of shot and Birmingham re-proof for 1997. Importers mark “Hill R. & G. U.K. Bozeman MT.” is also stamped on flats. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with provisional proofs, SN, “H & Co.”, and are engraved “Siemans Martins Steel Best Quality C. Hunt. & Co. Ltd.” Case hardened sidelock action features automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), square crossbolt and pivoting bolt third and fourth fasteners, side clips, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front articulated). Action and lockplates are engraved with nearly full coverage well cut tight scroll with circular rose bouquet highlights. “C. Hunt & Co Ltd” is on right lockplate, and “Birmingham & London” is on left. Trigger guard and top lever are blued, have matching engraving, with SN on tang of trigger guard. Top lever has gold inlaid sovereign crown. Dark, nicely marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/16″ over brown Silvers type pad. 22 LPI checkering has mullered border. There is a vacant silver oval on toe line, and gold shield on comb near heel, engraved “GA”. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.728. Bore restrictions: left -.034, right -.034. Wall thickness: left -.029, right -.028. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-9/16″. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz, LOP 14-3/16″. Green canvas case with tan leather trim is embossed “Presented to RON ASHMAN. Norwich City Football Club 1960 by C. S. Rosson & Co.” Interior is lined in light green cloth with C. S. Rosson gold-embossed black leather label. CONDITION: Fine, as partially re-finished. Bbls retain nearly all of a fine quality re-black, silvered slightly at muzzles, and at rear of bbls. Action and lockplates are mostly cleaned to silver with traces of case color in protected areas. Stocks have virtually all of a professional oil finish. Checkering has been re-cut. Action is tight. Bbls are very slightly off face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are excellent. Case is fine. Straps and handle are good.
