FRANCESCO VINEA (Italian, 1845-1902) THE WELCOME ADVANCE. Oil on canvas interior tavern scene shows a well dressed man with long black hair and mustache encouraging the young server to stay and sit with him. A wood wine cask is the backdrop while she holds a stoneware pitcher in one hand. A bottle of wine and pitcher stand in a brass basin. Signed bottom right “F Vinea 1887″. Housed in a partial gilt and incised carved modern frame. SIZE: 26-1/2″ x 21”. CONDITION: Original canvas has one patch, light craquelure, minor inpainting.
