*FRANK E. MALIN SIDE LOCK EJECTOR 20 BORE GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 80030. Cal. 20ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Double Triggers, (front articulated). 26-3/4″ Chopper lump steel bbls are marked “Frank E. Malin & Son, 5 Queen Street West, Melbourne & London.” with a triangle of scroll engraving on the concave game rib. There are 1″ triangles of scroll engraving and 2 gold bands on the breech end of each bbl. Bbl flats are stamped “Best” and w/ Canadian proofs: “Nitro Proof” and 20-2 3/4″ inside a C, “BP” “NP” “BV”. The left barrel is also stamped “Canada.” The case hardened but coin finished Holland style side lock action is profusely engraved w/ nicely executed scroll w/ gold line borders to the hinge pin covers and locks. “Frank E. Malin & Son” is inlaid in gold on both lock plates. The bottom of the action also has engravings of a pointer retrieving a pheasant, a flushing pheasant, and portrait of a Springer Spaniel. The lock plates each have a landing duck. The action fences have filled ovals of scroll engraving offset by a stippled background. “Safe” is inlaid in gold on the top tang in front of the non automatic safety button. Trigger guard is engraved w/ a nicely executed face-on portrait of a Springer Spaniel, w/ areas of looped scroll w/ stippled background. The SN “80030” is engraved in a riband on the grip. The nicely streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-1/8″ over leather covered pad, and features drop points, a gold oval engraved with initials “SPG” and some scroll, as well as 20 LPI checkering, w/ mullered border. The splinter forend has an Anson release; and wood and checkering matching buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.620, right -.621. Bore restrictions: left -.007, right -.004. Wall thickness: left -.028, right -.030. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb:1-5/8″ . Weight:6 lbs 2.2oz. Case: Canvas and leather motor case w/ copper plate marked “Barry Lambert Harris” on the lid. Green cloth interior w/ Frank E. Malin & Son label. Accessories are a pair of 20 ga snap caps. One is marked “J. Purdey and Sons,” and the other is unmarked. CONDITION: Very Fine. Bbls retain 95% orig black w/ few minor nicks and dings from use. Bores are bright and shiny w/ no visible imperfections. The action and lock plates retain 98% of their coin finish. Stocks have 98% of their orig finish w/ a few very minor marks from use. Action is tight and on face. Ejectors are in time.
