UNIQUE AMERICAN 21 STAR/IRISH CAPE. Cape made mostly of silk. Green silk hood attached to 21 star canton, which may have contained more stars originally. Canton is attached to red “war” stripe. Other side of cape is green Irish flag with winged figural harp. Cape is constructed with mixed hand and machine sewing. Because canton is on “war” stripe this cape was probably made for parade during war time. CONDITION: American flag component shows vivid bright colors, some fraying of silk. Irish flag component shows considerable fraying of silk. Gold figural harp in very good condition. Silk lining to cape very good. A most unusual Irish/American display item. 4-53385 JS22 (200-400)
